Hacking insurance

The thrills of competing – from dressage to horseball – are many and varied but are not for everyone. If you use your horse mainly or exclusively for hacking then you'll need to purchase a suitable horse insurance package. You can build hacking insurance into your equine insurance policy through our easy-to-use website. Equine insurance is typically split into two main classes: A and B. If you wish to solely use your horse for hacking then you'll be able to buy the minimum amount of cover, which is Class A. This will cover your hacking but will also give you the freedom to pursue other equine activities from time to time. So should you fancy trying your hand at unaffiliated show jumping (up to and including intermediate), dressage, gymkhanas, novice hunter trials or more, Class A will cover you. Also included with our hacking insurance is cover for theft and straying, horse mortality (up to insured sum) and public liability up to the value of £2m.

You'll also be able to add on tack cover for all your hacking equipment. You'll be offered this cover up to the value of £1000 or £2000 with Towergate Aiua or up to £1500, £3000 or £4500 with Amtrust. Your tack constitutes an important part of your equine equipment and will be valuable: to avoid having to pick up the costs yourself in cases of theft or damage, build tack cover into your hacking insurance package for your own peace of mind and financial security.

And because no equine activity is entirely free from risk, vets fees and personal injury cover can also be included in your hacking insurance package. Vets fees will be available up to the value of £5000 per claim, with the option to put an annual aggregate limit of £10,000 in place (with Towergate Auia) or with no annual aggregate limit (Amtrust).
